Fallon Health launches low-cost health plan for Central Mass residents

Worcester, Mass., December 3, 2014 - Individuals and families from Central Massachusetts who earn too much to qualify for MassHealth may be eligible for financial assistance to pay for their health care expenses. A subsidized health plan called “Community Care” is being offered by Fallon Health. Community Care is available to individuals earning up to $35,000 a year to a family of eight making as much as $120,000. Some 40,000 people in Central Massachusetts are eligible for the new program.

A “Connector Plan” offered only through the Massachusetts Health Connector, Community Care was built in partnership with Reliant Medical Group, Harrington HealthCare and other local providers. It features reduced premiums, low co-pays, no deductibles for covered medical costs and prescription drugs, and access to Fallon Health’s “It Fits!” and “The Healthy Health Plan” programs, which offer financial incentives for being and becoming healthy.

“Our provider partners have embraced this concept so that we can work together to provide a solution for the nearly 40,000 eligible residents in Central Massachusetts who must choose a plan for 2015,” said Dr. Sarika Aggarwal, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Fallon Health. “Fallon Health is committed to working with Reliant Medical Group, Harrington HealthCare and others to make sure that patients will receive the right care at the right time in the right place.”

“We believe that Community Care will be a popular option with local residents who are eligible to receive financial assistance from the state. These are your friends, families and neighbors who could be eligible for this plan,” said David Przesiek, Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer for Fallon Health, “We’ve worked hard to simplify
the enrollment process by offering the expertise of Fallon Health Insurance Guides located throughout Central Massachusetts. We want to ensure that individuals have easy access to the help they need — a knowledgeable guide who will make the process a positive one.”

Dr. Armin Ernst, President and CEO of Reliant Medical Group, said, “We’re proud to work in collaboration with local health care leaders to deliver an affordable health care option to the community. Community Care is a great example of what health care leaders can do when they combine strengths and work together.”

“This is an exciting opportunity to help individuals who may not even realize that they can get the kind of help afforded by a plan like Community Care,” said Ed Moore, President and CEO of Harrington HealthCare System. “We look forward to offering the many benefits of the insurance plan, while allowing patients to stay with
the trusted and caring physicians within Harrington.”

Eligible individuals in Central Mass. as well as small portions of Hampden and Middlesex counties may purchase Community Care during the open enrollment period that began on November 15, 2014 and goes through February 15, 2015.
