Fallon Community Health Plan only health plan in nation to score in top 10 in all product lines
FCHP ranked #1 for Medicaid, #3 for Medicare and #8 for Private by the NCQA; only health plan in America to be on Honor Roll in all products second year in a row
Worcester, Mass., October 22, 2010 ―Fallon Community Health Plan is the only health plan in the nation to receive a top 10 ranking in all three product categories of the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11, FCHP announced today. It was the second consecutive year in which FCHP received that distinction.
According to the national rankings, FCHP is #3 for Medicare and #1 for Medicaid. In September, FCHP’s commercial HMO was ranked #8, according to NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11 – Private.
“What this means for our members is that whether you receive health care coverage through your employer, Medicare or Medicaid, you can rely on Fallon Community Health Plan to deliver world-class care and service,” said Patrick Hughes, FCHP President and CEO. “Our consistently strong performance in the NCQA rankings validates our approach to taking care of each and every one of our members.”
FCHP’s Medicare HMO was ranked 3rd out of 183 plans; its Medicaid HMO was ranked 1st out of 104 plans; and its commercial HMO was ranked 8th out of 227 plans.
The NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-11 list is derived from publicly reported data used to compare and rank health plans across the country based on a variety of quality and customer satisfaction measures. Access to care, treatment of certain diseases and prevention efforts are among the measures used to determine the rankings.
“We don’t just say that our mission is making our communities healthy, we act on it every day,” said Elizabeth C. Malko, M.D., M. Eng., FAAFP, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. “The innovative, quality-driven and collaborative care management solutions we use with members and their health care providers are improving outcomes and helping to move the health care system in the right direction.”
Additionally, FCHP maintains "Excellent" Accreditation status for its commercial, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage products, and is the only Massachusetts health plan to be accredited across all three product lines. NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to measuring the quality of America’s health care. "Excellent" Accreditation is the NCQA's highest possible status and is reserved for the best health plans in the nation.
