Richard C. Commander joined Fallon Community Health Plan in 2008 as Vice President of Operations. In his current position as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, he is responsible for overseeing all operational areas for the health plan, including member enrollment, billing, claims administration, customer service, business support solutions and information technology.

Commander came to FCHP from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. Over the course of more than 30 years at BCBS of Massachusetts, he held multiple leadership positions in both the operations and information technology areas, with responsibilities in claims administration, customer service, national business administration and project management for new technology implementations.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Commander received a master’s degree in business administration from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He served in the United States Army and is a Vietnam veteran.

Commander resides in Marshfield Hills, Mass., with his wife, Kathy, and they have three sons who live and work in the greater Boston area.
