FCHP receives two #1 rankings on the U.S.News/NCQA America’s Best Health Plans 2007 list
Worcester, Mass., October 26, 2007—Fallon Community Health Plan’s Medicare and Medicaid health plans are the number one plans in the nation in their respective categories, according to a joint ranking by U.S.News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
“These rankings demonstrate our continued efforts to ensure our members receive the highest level of care and service,” said Eric H. Schultz, President and CEO of Fallon Community Health Plan. “Our commercial HMO health plan was ranked 12 out of 250 plans in America, making it among the nation’s elite health plans as well.”
Additionally, FCHP is one of only 10 health plans in the nation to receive “Excellent” accreditation from the NCQA for all three of its core products (Commercial HMO, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid), and the only health plan in Massachusetts with this distinction.
Fallon Community Health Plan’s Medicare health plan, Fallon Senior Plan™, became the nation’s first Medicare health plan in 1980. FCHP also was the first health plan in Massachusetts to receive a state contract to provide health insurance benefits to Medicaid recipients.
The U.S.News/NCQA America’s Best Health Plans 2007 list is derived from publicly reported data used to compare and rank health plans across the country based on a variety of quality and customer satisfaction measures. Access to care, treatment of certain diseases and prevention efforts are among the measures used to determine the rankings.
For its commercial HMO health plan, FCHP performed particularly strong on several measures including a ranking of second in the nation and first in Massachusetts for the follow-up care of children prescribed ADHD medications. FCHP also was ranked first in the nation for adolescent immunization, second in the nation for childhood immunization and third in the nation for colorectal cancer screening.
