Fallon Community Health Plan announces grant program to support community-based organizations servicing children and adolescents

Worcester, Mass., April 2, 2009―President and CEO Eric H. Schultz announced today that Fallon Community Health Plan will award more than $100,000 in grants to support innovative, community-based programs that provide preventive health and social services for children in the first three years of life or for programs that promote opportunities for at-risk youth between the ages of 12 and 19.

Grants will be awarded to new or existing programs that serve the targeted populations in Berkshire, Bristol, Essex, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Middlesex, Norfolk, northern Plymouth and Worcester counties.

Eligible organizations include, but are not limited to, non-profit health and social service agencies, public schools, city or town agencies, community health centers, community mental health agencies and hospitals.

Some of last year’s grant recipients included: Massachusetts Citizens for Children, $25,000; Home for Little Wanderers, $20,000; Western Massachusetts Labor Action, $20,000; and the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, $13,500.
